Making Your Decision
Participants in clinical trials play an important and necessary role in the development of new treatments to save human lives and extend lifespan. By participating in a clinical trial, you may not only receive treatment for your own medical condition, but also help find a cure to prevent the disease from affecting future generations. Throughout the world, millions of people participate in clinical trials.

If you are interested in participating in a particular clinical trial, you should find out as much as possible about the details of the trial and feel comfortable asking the research team any questions you have, as well as about the care you will receive during the trial. Plan ahead and write down your questions or concerns to share with the research team. Ask friends or relatives to come along for support or take the informed consent form to your current physician prior to deciding to enroll in the trial.

Paticipant Safety
Participant safety is the utmost priority of any study. The ethical and legal codes governing medical practice also apply to clinical trials. The trials follow a carefully controlled protocol or plan, to which all investigators and research staff must adhere.

In Thailand, every clinical trial must be approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB) to make sure the risks of the study are as low as possible and worth any potential benefits. The IRB is an independent committee of physicians, statisticians, community advocates, etc., working as a robust body to ensure trials are ethical and protective of the rights of the participants.
